Presenting: Nicki Berndt
Nicki Berndt is a local artist creating pottery. She graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign, with a bachelor of Fine Arts. After teaching art, and then working in the business world, she has finally come back to the love of her life...ART!
Using clay she creates utilitarian objects used for cooking, eating, or drinking, such as mugs, vases, platters, and bowls. These pieces are high-fired stoneware that are oven safe and lead free. Her interest in the Raku method of firing has allowed her to create decorative pieces, such as candle-holders, platters, and large jugs and vases. She was just honored by Lark Publishing in 500 Raku coming out in March 2011, as a contributing artist.
Nicki's work is exhibited at Hanson Gallery at Uptown Park, 18 Hands Gallery in the Heights, and The Woodlands League Gallery at Market Street.
