ClayHouston, an organization dedicated to the craft and art of clay, is pleased to submit its call for entries for a regional ceramics group exhibition to take place in the Central Visual Arts Gallery at

Houston Community College, Houston, Texas

March 4 – April 6, 2019

TIMELESS CLAY: Future Artifacts

The call is open for ClayHouston's 2019 Regional Biennial, TIMELESS CLAY: Future Artifacts. The exhibition is open to ceramic artists in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Arizona & Oklahoma with a submission deadline of January 31, 2019 (midnight CST)

Show will be held at Houston Community College Central Visual Arts Gallery from Mar 4 - Apr 6.

We are honored to have Jennifer Ling Datchuk acting as our juror for the exhibition and look forward to a rich and varied representation of the contemporary ceramic work that is being created in the Southwest region. Ceramic art is frequently observed within the context of the work that came before it.  This exhibition serves as a reminder that today’s ceramic artists are creating tomorrow’s artifacts.

Juror: Jennifer Ling Datchuk

Jennifer Ling Datchuk was born in Warren, Ohio and currently lives and works in San Antonio, Texas.

As the child of a Chinese immigrant and grandchild of Russian and Irish immigrants, the family histories of conflict she has inherited are a perpetual source for her work. She captures this conflict by exploring the emotive power of domestic objects and rituals that fix, organize, soothe, and beautify our lives.

Trained in ceramics, her works often use a myriad of materials ranging from porcelain to fabric or embroidery. Datchuk holds an MFA in Artisanry from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a BFA in Crafts from Kent State University. She has received grants from the Artist Foundation of San Antonio as well as Artpace to research the birthplace of porcelain in Jingdezhen, China.
