JANUARY 2021 NEWSLETTER
Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you had a restful holiday and are beginning 2021 with renewed energy. I want to take a moment to thank you for continuing to be a part of ClayHouston. 2020 was not the year we expected and it definitely meant we had to do things differently. 2021 will undoubtably start off in a similar fashion but I hope that we will get back to more in-person programming this year. I miss seeing you all! Thank you for supporting our Bayou City Clay Crawl in December. As you know, we converted the event to an all-virtual format for the sake of safety. I’m so grateful for all the hard work that went into the event - everyone really put their heart into making it the best it could be given the circumstances. We’re still tallying the total sales and donations but will give you an update soon! I also want to send out a thank you to Debra Chronister for guiding us in the Yoga for Artists event last month. It was a welcome respite of quiet and healing and I look forward to more events like it this year! The ClayHouston board is excited to get to work planning new events and creative opportunities and I can’t wait to share them with you. I’m also looking forward to our monthly ClayTalks Event on Thursday, January 21st from 6-7pm. Hope to see you there! In the meantime, take care, stay safe and well and I hope to see you all soon.

Join Visual Arts Alliance, Saturday, February 6th at 11 a.m. as MFAH photography curator Malcolm Daniel presents a virtual tour of the photography galleries in the Museum’s new Nancy and Rich Kinder Building. The Museum’s first galleries dedicated to the display of photographs present more than 150 works from every period and major movement, 1840 to the present. Exhibits include thematic groupings like French and American daguerreotypes, avant-garde photography in the period between the World Wars, large-scale contemporary photographs, and portraits that convey the variety and ubiquity of photography. This program will be live streamed on VAA’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/visual.arts.alliance/live/.Join Visual Arts Alliance, Saturday, February 6th at 11 a.m. as MFAH photography curator Malcolm Daniel presents a virtual tour of the photography galleries in the Museum’s new Nancy and Rich Kinder Building.
