Dear ClayHouston members,

I hope you’re doing well as we begin July! This past month marked a return to in-person events for ClayHouston and it was wonderful to get together again! The Moody Center for the Arts hosted us for an exhibition tour of Brie Ruais: Movement at the Edge of the Land. We were so fortunate to be joined that day by the artist who gave us a guided tour and provided insight into her process and work.

Later that week, ClayHouston facilitated a community clay workshop at the Moody Center. I want to send a HUGE thank you to our dedicated member volunteers who helped out! It was a wonderful afternoon of playing with clay and sharing in the joy of discovery and it reminded me of all the reasons I love our clay community.

As we return to more normal activities again, I am happy to report that our Pop-Up market event is back! It will take place Saturday, September 18th, from 10am - 4pm at The Scout House in the Heights (1711 Rutland street, Houston TX 77008). Keep an eye on your inbox, we will be sending an email soon with details and info about how to participate!

Help us spread the word! ClayHouston is now offering a limited-time Free Trial Membership for educators! If you are a teacher at a K-12 or collegiate level program, we invite you to give ClayHouston membership a try for free through December 31, 2021.

In other news, Clay Talks is going on hiatus for the slower months of summer. We’ll keep you updated on timing and format when we resume.

Take care and hope to see you all soon!

Jessica Phillips
