Bio:
I was born in Baku, Azerbaijan (former USSR) in a family of artists. I graduated from the Baku State Art College 1974-77 with Bachelor of Arts degree. I graduated from Baku State University of the Fine Arts and Culture 1978-1983 –MFA ceramics. I spent 1 year in St. Petersburg, studying academic drawing and painting
In 1983 I started working at the Ceramic Shop at the Union of Artist’s Manufactory as a leading artist and mass production designer. I was accepted to the Union of the Soviet Artists in 1990, and started actively participating in art exhibitions and shows, in Baku, Moscow and Eastern Europe. I had about 5 solo exhibitions in Baku, and collaborated with a few souvenir shops.
In 1998 I moved to the United States, to Houston in 2000 and became a member of the Texas Clay artists until present.
I participated in various exhibitions and was collaborating with commercial galleries like: Anya Tish Gallery, Asher Gallery (HCCC) Foelber Pottery Gallery, Winter Street studios- gallery 3, The East End gallery, Talento Bilingue, Beth Gallery, and Hanson Gallery.
In 2012 my drawing “Reaching for the stars” was accepted at the “Open The Door” competition. My door was later purchased by the Lone Star College.
My ceramic sculptures were exhibited around the world: Istanbul-Turkey, Hamburg- Germany Moscow-, Russia, Dubai- Emirates, also in NY- United Nations pavilion, Washington DC-Chamber of Commerce of Azerbaijan, Sag Harbor Washington state.-private gallery, Irvin-TX, Austin, TX.
I showcased my ceramics at the Houston Crafts show in 2004 and Texas Crafts Show in 2008; in 2010 my composition Three Women was awarded the Best in Show at Hanson Gallery (Uptown Park)
I currently teach visual arts at The Post Oak School, and make custom made and one of a kind ceramics.
My artworks are inspired by nature and people.
