General Meeting with Speaker Kamila Szczesna

Kamila works in a variety of media -- 2-D drawings and photoimagery, resin sculpture, and ceramics sculpture and installations. In her presentation, Kamila will focus on her works executed in clay and share her thoughts and inspirations and processes for these ceramic artworks.

She was born in 1974 in Wroclaw, Poland, and studied at the Academy of Fine Art there, earning her master’s degree. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in collections such as Ceramics Park MINO, Tajimi City, Japan; Escuela de Cerámica de Muel, Saragossa, Spain; "World Ceramic Exposition Foundation", Icheon World Ceramic Center, Gwango-dong, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea; "Sculpture Garden” of the Museum of Architecture, Cracow, Poland; and Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum, Yingge, Taiwan. She is also a recipient of a Bronze Award at the "8th International Ceramics Competition Mino 2008", Tajimi City, Japan, and First Prize at "Contemporary Ceramics CERCO-09" Saragossa, Spain. Locally, she was awarded First Prize at  the “Assistance League Houston Celebrates Texas Art 2012” and was one of five artists featured in “Naked,” an exhibition of contemporary unglazed porcelain works at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in 2010.
