June Newsletter

Thanks to all who have made bowls for the 13th Annual Empty Bowls Houston on Saturday, June 3 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, 4848 Main Street.  This is the major moment for the ceramics community to give back and raise money for the food bank. Whole Foods supplies the soup and HCCC the venue.  Kudos to Renee LeBlanc, ClayHouston member who chairs and works tirelessly on putting the event together.  Go and take a friend.  It’s a great opportunity to give and add your 2017 bowl to your collection.

We are coming off of a terrific workshop by Eric Stearns.  Anne Steacy and I have tried electric raku and transfers… maybe others have done that and tried the piercing.  Eric left us with a lot of amazing information.  Go to his website:

http://stearnsceramics.com for links to his processes.  Thanks again, Laura, for planning this program and, Eric, for an amazing gift of a day.

The summer is upon us.  Some of us are ready to take a breather and others to double down in our ceramic practice.  Travel is in the cards for many and some lucky among us will be taking workshops from excellent teachers.

Whatever your plans, have a wonderful summer and include clay in it.

If you’d like to be more involved, please contact me at info@clayhouston.org
