Greetings,

I want to start with a request. We have many upcoming events and need members to volunteer. If you have an interest in becoming a committee member we have lots of slots available. It’s a great way to get involved without a huge time commitment. Please contact me at anne@steacy.org

Another busy month at ClayHouston - Clara Hoag and I did an outreach program with Houston City Breakfast Club on the 23rd of May. What a great group. Clara prepared and presented a comprehensive powerpoint program. We had a lot of positive feedback from the group and many members signed up for notifications of our upcoming events.

Pop Up Marketplace - Sierra Estes has secured a location and set the date for our first Pop Up Marketplace: July 28th from 11am-3pm at Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church in the Heights. Registration for tables will be open soon.

Bayou City Clay Crawl - Betsy Evens is working on the geographic areas for the crawl, more info to come soon.

Members Only Show - Jessica Phillips will have the call out this month for our fall show reception will be Saturday, Oct 2o, 2018.

Laura Sprague has two great upcoming programs.

“Social Media for the Visual Artist” by Angel Oloshove, June 30 2: pm at the new Glassell, co-hosted by Houston Metal Arts Guild, event registration is open.

“Studio Demonstration with V. Chin at his teaching studio” August 17th 10:00 am-Noon, Registration will be open early June. 

And last but not least, remember to register for the fall symposium “Beyond Surface: Identity Through Clay” Oct 20/21. Seating is limited.

Ceramic works of Carolyn Watkins and Terry Hagiwara are on display in the exhibit “Material Group : Contemporary  Craft Artists in Conversation” at Heritage Plaza ground floor lobby, entrance at Dallas at Brazos, across from Double Tree Hotel, downtown. The exhibits runs through September 6.

Helena Gijsbers van Wijk is presenting her new body of ceramic work at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy St, Fort Worth, TX 76107, between June 1st and June 28th, 2018, in a show titled "Melting, overflowing, shifting.....". The opening is on June 1st, from 6 to 9 pm.
