Judy Adams : Flipping Clay on its Head

Flipping Clay on It’s Head

A Studio and gallery tour followed by a clay demonstration

Join us for a studio and gallery tour with Judy Adams, co-owner of Foelber Pottery Studio.  After a tour of the studio, Judy will demonstrate wheel throwing and hand building techniques. The focus will be creating unique pieces by turning them upside down to create a different silhouette.  Adding component parts add complexity and interest.

Judy Adams has been a working potter since 1984 and an art teacher in Houston schools from 1985 to 1993. She and her husband, John Foelber, co-own Foelber Gallery and Pottery Studio. For the past thirty years her focus has been teaching adult pottery classes at Foelber Studio, running the gallery, and carving out time to create her own clay work. Judy’s technical focus is wheel-thrown and altered pieces creating organic shapes that still retain a vessel form. She is interested in movement and the negative space around a piece. After all these years it is still an exciting dance between her hands, the clay, and the kiln firing.
